The Centre for University Quality Management (PPQ) is formerly known as the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center (PUJAKA). PUJAKA was established in July 2012 to guarantee and manage quality affairs, especially the academic quality of the University. It was formed as a result of organizational structuring at UMK and placed directly under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International).
PUJAKA's original organizational structure consisted of a Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Registrar (N41), two Assistant Administrative Officers (N27) and Administrative Assistant (Clerical/Operations) and assisted by the Academic Quality Working Committee (JAKA).
The restructuring of PUJAKA is based on the approval of the Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Universiti Bil.9/2015 (Kali Ke-145) dated 9 September 2015 regarding the approval of PUJAKA's branding to the Management and Quality Assurance Center (PPJK). The branding came into effect on 19 November 2015 through Administrative Circular No. 19/2015. PPJK has been directly accountable to the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Corporate Development & Quality Management).
PPJK was then transferred back to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) through Administrative Circular No. 14/2018, Amendment of the Organizational Chart of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (Approval of the University Management Committee Meeting No. 10/2018 (193rd Time).
Through the distribution of Administrative Circular No. 16/2019 dated 5 May 2019, the amendment to the UMK Organization Chart, PPJK has been rebranded as the University Quality Management Center (PPQ) and placed under the responsibility of the Vice Chancellor's Office (Approval of the Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Universiti (JPU) No. 7 /2019 Kali ke 203).

In 2020, PPQ approved the addition of staff for the purpose of implementing ISO 9001:2015 at the UMK level. For this purpose, the Quality Management System Division (SPK) has been established.
